The Gentle Lifestyle

The Gentle Lifestyle programs, workshops, talks & blog are designed for those who are beginners on their path to Mindful Living, as well as those who’ve walked it for some time.

What I offer here are simple teachings and tips for everyday people who want practical ways to become more present and calm in the midst of their busy & often stressful lives.

If that sounds like it’s for you, I invite you to join me in learning how to cultivate your own practice of meditation and mindfulness in daily life, learning how to work skilfully with difficult emotions and thoughts, as well as powerful methods to help you respond rather than react and make wiser life choices. Learn how to truly reawaken a new sense of inner peace and greater sense of meaning, purpose and wellbeing in your life, by taking away powerful tools and insights, allowing you to live your life with a sense of ease, passion and peace, skills that will last a lifetime.

I have learnt so much from partaking in The Gentle Lifestyle Mindfulness Program and it has benefited all aspects of my life. I am better able to cope with difficult situations and not to react in ways that I used to, and ways that didn’t support me. More than anything, I have learnt about the importance of having healthy boundaries and also that the source of my happiness is to be found within. I hope that I can commit to practicing every day in order to become the person I want to be

Gráinne, Limerick

The Gentle Lifestyle is one of the best things that I have ever done for myself. I have learnt so much from the weekly sessions. I am sorry that the program has finished but I would love to join you again in the future when you offer more of these amazing classes

Sharon, I will never be able to truly thank you enough for the past eight weeks, as you made me realise just how important each and every moment really is, and also to be thankful for all experiences. I feel truly blessed to have been a part of The Gentle Lifestyle

Brid, Co. Clare

Thank you so much for putting together such a fantastic program Sharon. It has been a wonderful and challenging few weeks, and I feel that I have gotten to know myself on a much deeper level with your guidance and support. I am well on my way to living my most authentic life! I am super time poor at the moment but I have found the beauty of allowing myself a few minutes each day to meditate or mindfully do something I love to be a true gift. I have learnt boundaries and my relationships are thriving as a result. I have loved all of the additional information you have gifted us with, and your attention to detail is what has made this program so wonderful

The Mind at Work

The demands of modern life mean that people in general are living at a level of stress previously unseen. Substantial research has been carried out into the efficacy of Mindfulness at Work programs and the findings are that stress and anxiety decrease, health levels and employee well-being increases, workplace communication and relationships improve, leading to a happier working life, which in turn helps increase employee engagement. With at least one third of the average person’s day being spent in the workplace it’s of vital importance that all company personnel experience a workplace that allows a sense of well-being and also personal and professional fulfilment in the workplace. Stress is one of the many factors that prevent this being achieved.

Mindfulness training teaches us how to reduce our stress while increasing our physical, mental and emotional well-being. A by-product of Mindfulness at Work training is that interpersonal skills improve, as research has shown that the empathy centre in the brain enlarges thus aiding workplace relationships.

Looking at the life of the modern employee we usually see that their stress levels are at an all time high. Nowadays people are juggling long commutes, high mortgages, childcare commitments, aging parents, family commitments alongside attempting to perform well in the workplace. It’s of no surprise that the modern employee is overwhelmed leading to many negative emotional states, ranging from stress, worry, anxiety, depression and sometimes total burnout. Mindfulness training provides us with the tools to learn how to reduce and manage these stresses.

Why this course is different?

As the field of Mindfulness matures it is now recognised that when the tools of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Positive Psychology are offered as part of a total Mindfulness package that the results from those trainings are far greater than when Mindfulness training is offered as a standalone package. The reason for this is very simple. Everybody alive has built up negative memories and negative thought patterns through the course of their life. They then attempt to practice Mindfulness; however these thoughts have become lodged in the mind through repetition, perhaps on a daily basis. CBT and Positive Psychology help change those negative thinking patterns, leaving an uncluttered mind, with freedom to practice and enjoy all the benefits of Mindfulness.Everything you learn in this course is scientifically researched, practical, down-to-earth, and incredibly useful.

Who should attend?

This course is suitable for all staff members and has been delivered in many contexts. It is suitable for any member of staff who wishes to achieve greater well-being in the workplace. It should be noted that Mind at Work training will also provide attendees with Mindfulness tools that will be beneficial to all areas of their lives.

What are the benefits of the Mind at Work Program?

I would most definitely recommend this program to others as we do not take the time to look after ourselves with busy lifestyles in work and outside work. I felt that the tools we learnt can be used in everyday life. It was a very interesting workshop and not just work-related, it is about taking time to care for ourselves, body and mind. There should be more work-shops like this done in the work environment. These are tools for life! Work should be taking more of an interest in staff’s wellbeing also

Ciara , HSE

The workshop you did with was so useful – thank you. The timing of the workshop was good for me as was a bit overwhelmed with work etc!  I could do with coming to you individually at some stage in the future – will def book it in sometime. However, it would be wonderful to have some regular work sessions, maybe weekly over a few weeks

Orla, HSE

I think in the current climate most people are stressed in work and this workshop would be very beneficial as a way to step back and put things in perspective, promoting minding oneself and hopefully reduced stress would be the outcome

Eimear , HSE

Sharon is friendly, open, knowledgeable, understanding, and non-judgemental. Her enthusiasm and knowledge on the subject and openness throughout the Program was exceptional. It has provided me with tools that I can bring into all areas of my life.

Thanks for all you have done Sharon, it was a pleasure working with you.

makes the content relevant to all life’s situations. I leave Sharon’s sessions with a calm

warm feeling. They also promote a bonding experience between the participants. Sharon

provides the tools to ensure this experience can be continued in life
